Cat’s composition and performance practices engage elements of low frequency sound, drone, noise, graphic notation and improvisation. Her works have been performed at festivals internationally and broadcast on Australian, German, Italian, French and Austrian radio. She has been a songwriter with some 6 albums to her credit, playing in pop bands in Germany, Italy and Australia in the 1990s. She creates sound for art installation and film - working with Kate McMillian, Erin Coates and Anna Nazzari, Tracey Moffat and Perun Bonser.

Cat Hope has been making sound installations for over 20 years. These have been shown at the San Francisco Museum of Art, the Perth Institute of Art, Titank Gallery, Finland, Museum of Applied Art and Design, Tallin, Kerb Gallery and Linden.

Collaboration is central to Cat Hope’s artistic and academic practice. She works with visual artists, film makers, other musicians and composers in the creation of new work.

Cat Hope has a live bass noise performance practice that consists of solo shows, duos, small ensembles all the way up to orchestral works.

Cat Hope Specialises in bass and alto flute performance. She performs solo and in the Decibel new music ensemble.
