April and May see a lot of acticity - from talking about "Mayhem and Misstery" at the Sydney Museum of Contemporary Art as part of Art Bar to travelling to Canada and China.
A new piece written for Callum G'Freoer and Olivia Strahan was created and premiered at the Pieta program in Berlin in April.
Two pieces appeared on a release on ToneList, 'Lines of Flight' by Perth ensemble GreyWing. This includes Signals Directorate (2014) and Marking Time (2016).
Cat presented an 'anti lecture' entitled "In Defense of Mayhem" that saw her 'singing' the sounds of the decaying toad in her 'Sounds of Decay' installation. You can read curator Tina Havelock- Steven's interview about the event here.
After visiting China with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Cat will travel to Montreal, Canada, to take part in the 4th International TENOR conference. There she will present a keynote entitled "Why Music Needs Graphic and Animated Notations Now" and premiere a new work written for the ensemble Supermusique.
An interview about leadership in music with drummer Terri Lynn Carrington was published as part of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival. Further, a chapter co-authored with Adam Trainer about Tura new music came out in the book entitled Diversity in Australias Music.
Cat will present a paper at the AJIRN Conference in early June entitled "So What about the Women? The impact of Gender Mix on Communities of Practice".
Decibel were in the studio in April, recording three new works, including a new collaboration between Cat and Lionel Marchetti, due for release on Room 40 in November.
Cat's talk 'Stepping Aside: Gender Equality and privilege in Australian Music Culture'' was presented as part of the Creative Exchange Institute at UTas in Hobart, Tasmania, and will be repeated in Adelaide in July as part of the Festival of Ideas.
